Innovations

According to the April 1997 National Law Journal, Mr. Keenan “is reportedly the first trial lawyer to use focus groups and computer generated medical illustration exhibits in his cases.” The Keenan Law Firm is dedicated to being on the cutting-edge of all tools and resources which will aid our client in a successful outcome. Some of those areas include pioneering the use of focus groups, developing and using the video settlement brochures, and the use of computer graphics in the courtroom.

Focus Groups/Mock Trials

A focus group or mock jury is simply a pre-test or rehearsal for the actual trial. Private jurors are selected and the jury views arguments of lawyers, testimony of witnesses and whatever issue we decide is important for consideration. While the focus group outcome does not guarantee the actual result, it lends valuable information to strategy and issue formulation.

The Keenan Law Firm was the first law firm in Georgia to use focus groups and mock juries. In 1981, Mr. Keenan was featured on the NBC Nightly News and later that year in a 15 minute segment on an NBC magazine show. The network filmed an actual mock jury and followed the case through to conclusion. Eight years ago, because of the frequency of focus groups, our firm built its own courtroom complete with jury box, witness and judge structures.

Our firm has done literally hundreds of focus groups and mock juries,
not only in our Atlanta office courtroom, but throughout the country where our cases are based.

Video Settlement Brochures

In 1997, the Keenan Law Firm successfully completed its 50th video settlement brochure. The video is a commercially produced high quality videotape much in the format of a “60 Minutes” program, which tells the story of our client’s tragedy.

The settlement video may include interviews of the family, interviews with the expert witnesses, an injury reconstructionist, testimony by an economist as to damages, and day in the life of our client.

These settlement videos, while time-consuming to produce, are powerful tools in resolving cases prior to trial. In all but two of the video settlement brochures our firm has produced, the cases have concluded prior to trial.

To learn more about the settlement video, review Mr. Keenan’s article written several years ago for lawyers.

Age Progression Technology

After years of pioneering PowerPoint in the courtroom, ADR and depositions, the Keenan Law Firm collaborated in 2000 with PresentationPro, Inc. an international template company in the design and implementation of a commercially sold PowerPoint program for trial lawyers. Initial sales indicate a new tool for the nation’s trial lawyer.

Injury Cases

Set forth below are several examples of how we have used age progression to bring to life the longevity of the injury to our client.

Wrongful Death Cases

The following are example of how we have used age progession drawings to show how the deceased would appear had they lived a normal life expectancy.
