KEENAN'S KIDS FOUNDATION

LAW STUDENT CLOSING ARGUEMENT COMPETITION

Law schools inadequately train future lawyers for advocacy on children's damage issues.  To heighten the awareness of damage consideration to injured and maimed children, the Foundation, in late 1997, sponsored its first Law Student Closing Argument Competition.  The Competition drew such passionate participation that it has become an annual event.  Second and third-year law students are invited to participate; of more than 100 students from law schools throughout Georgia who applied, 26 competed in 1997.  The closing arguments involve a real case involving injuries to a child.  The jury was comprised of journalists, attorneys, and former clients of The Keenan Law Firm.
